Sales Manager | Harley-Davidson
Location: Upper Midwest, US
Compensation: $75K-$100K
This is a well-established, smaller-footprint Harley-Davidson dealership looking for a plug-and-play Sales Manager to build and lead its sales department from the ground up. This is a rare chance to take ownership of a program with real upside — you'll have the room to structure the department, build the process, and grow a team exactly the way you see fit, with strong backing from ownership and Harley-Davidson.
What You'll Do
- Own the sales department end-to-end — from greet through paperwork — using a structured 1–9 step sales process
- Operate as a true cradle-to-grave sales manager, with roughly 90% decision-making authority in the sales process
- Recruit, train, and grow a sales team as it's built around you
- Drive key performance metrics: inventory turns, sold-to-invoice ratio, gross profit, and lead conversion/follow-up
- Lead by example — show staff how deals get structured and how a well-run sales department operates
- Work within CRM, Talon, HDNET, and Menu Link systems (subject to change)
- Partner closely with ownership on decisions above your day-to-day authority, with in-depth training provided by both ownership and Harley-Davidson
What You'll Walk Into
This is a turnaround-and-build opportunity, not a maintenance role. Be prepared to:
- Work through aging new-unit inventory and limited new-unit allocation following years of underperformance
- Rebuild a thin used-inventory position
- Operate with limited starting capital and a small existing staff
- Bring structure to a sales operation that currently lacks a defined process
The store is positioned to double in unit sales volume, and the right leader stands to build significant long-term value — and compensation — as the department scales.
What We're Looking For
- Proven ability to structure deals and run a sales department, in Harley-Davidson, powersports, automotive, or a related industry
- Hands-on experience with dealership systems (CRM/DMS platforms) — current staff cannot train on these, and you'll often be leading without daily on-site ownership support
- At least one year of relevant experience in a similar role; open to a strong ASM or Sales Associate ready to step up to Sales Manager
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make decisions in the best interest of the store
- 20 Group experience is not required
Compensation
- Base: $4,000–$6,000/month, paid every other week
- Commission: 3–6% front and back
- Total compensation: $75,000–$100,000+ annually, with upside tied to sales growth
- Bonus paid the following month
Local Cost of Living
- Median home price~$370K–$390K (recent listings range roughly $345K–$435K depending on source/month)
- 1-bedroom rental~$1,200–$1,425/month
- 2-bedroom rental~$1,340–$1,720/month
Why Consider This Role
This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape a sales department and build a team from the start, with full support from ownership and Harley-Davidson's training resources. For the right leader, the growth potential — both professionally and financially — is substantial.
Dealership identity and exact location are being kept confidential during this search. Additional details will be shared with qualified candidates as the process progresses.
