A fast-growing powersports dealership group in North Central Tennessee seeks an experienced GSM to lead its operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in powersports or automotive retail, is fluent in the metrics that matter (closing ratios, gross per unit, CSI, turn), and has a proven record of managing a sales team to meet and exceed targets. Position Overview
The General Sales Manager will own overall sales performance for the dealership, overseeing new and pre-owned unit sales, F&I coordination, and day-to-day management of the sales team. This role reports directly to dealership leadership and plays a key role in the group's continued growth, with strong potential to assume additional responsibility as the organization expands.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of sales associates to meet monthly and annual sales targets
- Track and manage core KPIs, including closing ratio, gross profit per unit, CSI scores, and inventory turn
- Set and manage pricing, trade valuations, and deal structure in partnership with F&I
- Recruit, train, and develop sales staff, building bench strength for future growth
- Manage new and pre-owned inventory levels in coordination with the leadership team
- Partner with marketing to drive showroom traffic and lead conversions
- Ensure a high standard of customer experience throughout the sales process
Qualifications:
- 4–7+ years of experience as a Sales Manager, General Sales Manager, or Finance Manager, including prior sales associate experience
- Strong, demonstrated command of sales KPIs and the ability to use data to drive team performance
- Powersports experience strongly preferred; automotive retail experience also considered
- Track record of team leadership, coaching, and development
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
