A Recruiter’s Take from the Powersports Front Lines
We are in our 10th year in business—and wow, I’ve got to admit that 2025 feels really different. Over the past decade, we’ve seen trends rise, fall, and loop back around again. But this year stands out in some unexpected ways.
1. The Flow (When It Works, It Really Works)
Some searches this year have unfolded like clockwork. We’re talking a well-oiled process that feels more like choreography than chaos:
- Clear job specs and a client who’s engaged from day one
- Strong candidate pool with a clear standout
- Smooth screening calls and pre-vetted interviews
- Respectful scheduling, quick decision-making
- Offer delivered, accepted—everyone’s thrilled, including the family dog.
When the hiring team, the candidate, and our recruiting crew are all in sync, magic happens. And while it doesn’t always go this way, when it does—it is deeply satisfying.
2. The Chaos (When It’s Not Smooth, it’s a Grind)
For every search that glides, there’s one that lurches forward in fits and starts. 2025 seems to be especially rich in curveballs:
- Candidates who “forgot” to mention a suspended license or more serious lapse of integrity
- Hiring managers not aligned—one’s ready to roll, the other decides it is time to pivot 180 degrees
- Background checks stalling over details that should’ve been disclosed during the first conversation
- Ghosting. Second thoughts. Counteroffers. Cold feet. More Ghosting
In some cases, we’re halfway through interviews before it’s clear who’s actually driving the decision. That lack of internal alignment can derail even the strongest candidate experience. Add in a few resumé “oversights” from job seekers, and it can feel like two steps forward, one step back.
3. The Challenge (Bring It On)
We don’t shy away from tough searches. In fact, the more complex the assignment, the more we lean in. We’re not talking about chasing unicorns or inventing a candidate who doesn’t exist—we’re talking about high-stakes, high-impact roles where only a few top-tier professionals can truly deliver.
Need a CFO who’s scaled a dealership group from 5 to 15 rooftops? A Harley-Davidson Service Manager who’s helped make a Top 20 store hum? That’s our lane.
Sure, it’s fun to knock a meatball out of the park now and then—but the most gratifying wins are the ones that test us. The ones that require fresh strategy, creative angles, and a bit of that treasure-hunter mindset. The real reward? It’s not just the placement—it’s the follow-up email a few months later that says: “You changed my life for the better,” or “They’re a rockstar. Thank you.”
